Well, personally, do not go online. Visit your local pet store or Humane Society. I know it may cost more expensive than going to your local shelter, but almost always their microchips, shots to date and love and care of volunteers.
I know because I bought two black cats, no one wanted for my local Humane Society. I know people generally do not like black animals, but to me are so sweet and nice that I do all the other animals, now I'm doing better. I used to be very superstitious, but I'm glad that I rescued two kittens! :)
My advice is to seek to protect the local Humane Society to go there in person. But take the time to spend at least two hours or more to the animal you want to select. They have little room for you to know that would be animals that have now become curious, I do not guarantee that a pregnant cat in your local shelter, but one can always, that may not always be kittens. Please call ahead of time and see if they have first.
